Grip Plates

Pistol grips?
I just bought a 1911A1 Springfield .45 ACP handgun. Are all 1911A1 grip plates interchangeable? I like the old school Mil-spec ones because its a WWII gun but I would also like to get some of those really pretty while pearlesque ones like you always see movie detectives with. Also, would it ruin the value to have it engraved? (Its not vintage, its brand new production of the original)
yes, the grips are interchangeable on most of them. Ajax grips (online) offer some nice imitation ivory or other types of grips for them. Engraving can enhance, or destroy the value af a firearm. It depends on what you have engraved, how well it is done etc. If it something personal like initials or a name etc then it will generally lower the value. I tell people that everyone should have what we refer to as a “pimp” gun in their collection. It usually is a stainless steel pistol with fancy grips or engraving etc. Heck I have a couple of them!!If you can’t have fun, what’s the sense in doing anything??
